On Saturday, Dec 19th 140 entries arrived at the Amainhobbies.com Outback Raceway in Chico, California. The 2015 race would benefit the families of the Torres Shelter like it did in 2014. Racers would bring toys for their entry fees and show up with the giving spirit of the holidays and support this great cause. The race would donate over $2000 in toys and donations making sure the families of the Torres Shelter would have a great holiday.
Kyle Layton dominated the competition by setting TQ in two open classes. Then finishing the weekend with First in Open Short Course, First in Open 2wd Buggy and a Second place in 4wd Buggy. Todd Pearson ran well all weekend setting TQ for 40+ Stock Buggy and taking home First. Then finishing Second in Pro Stock 2wd Buggy. Terry Wickum rounded out the BMiller podium showings with a First in Pro Stock 2wd Buggy, TQ and Second place in Stock Short Course and Second in Open 2wd Short Course.
Piloting a Kyosho Ultima SC in the 17.5 spec short course class, Pearson convincingly won the points championship by posting three wins and two second place showings in the five rounds he competed in. Jerry Douglas finished second overall in the class and Shaun Klobas was third.
The battle for the spec stock buggy crown, however, was as close as it gets. Pearson, who is the manager for A Main Hobbies’ retail store in Chico, CA, rallied in the final three rounds of the series with a win and two seconds to win the overall title with his Associated B4.1 by just one point over Jeff Fridrich and Brian Romo.
Other class winners included Romo in Spec 2wd Stadium Truck, Kerry Lemos in Open 4wd Short Course, and Ronnie White in Rookie.
