Nathan has only been RC racing for three years, but the 14-year-old son of BMiller Racing Team Driver Eddie Bernal has improved tremendously in a matter of months, and is now a serious contender any time he makes his way to the driver’s stand.
He started with a Traxxas Slash in 2010, but now does battle at the pro level in both buggy and short course competitons. He burst onto the scene late in 2011 with a third place showing in 2wd Open Short Course and a Pro Buggy A main qualification at the Outback Turkey Shootout in Chico.
However in 2012, Nathan took his game to another level. His top performances for the ’12 season included a AAA main win in 2wd Modified Buggy at the Motown Showdown at Modesto RC Raceway, a victory in the Pro Buggy vs. 17.5 Buggy ProTek R/C Challenge Cup, a runner-up showing in 2wd Expert Buggy and third in 2wd Expert Short Course at the Traction Raceway Showdown in Reno, and a Top 50 finish in 4wd Buggy at the ROAR Super Nationals.
His rise in the RC ranks promises to take another step forward in 2013. He opened the season in impressive fashion at the 4th Annual Outback Shootout in Chico, winning the 17.5 Stock Buggy title against a very strong field while also finishing second in 2wd Open Buggy and third in 4wd Buggy. He also had a strong showing at the 2013 Reedy Off-Road Race of Champions in 2wd and 4wd Buggy.
When not focusing on his eighth grade school work or wrenching on his cars, Nathan enjoys playing video games.
